October 21, 2008 - Together with other legislators from York
County, I participated in a surprise reception to thank
Representative Bev Mackereth, who has represented the 196th District
since 2001, for her hard work and to wish her the best of luck in
her new endeavor as York County’s Director of Human Services.

October 9, 2008 - For November’s episode of “The Mike Waugh
Report” I visited Central Market in York City, which is the proposed
site for a

October 9, 2008 - On a beautiful fall morning I had the
opportunity to spend some time at Seven Valleys Vineyard for the
taping of my show “The Mike Waugh Report.” (3 photos)

October 6, 2008 - Deborah Wright, Mrs. Galaxy 2009 and a resident
of Red Lion, visited the Senate where I had the opportunity to
introduce her to my colleagues and present her with a citation
recognizing her accomplishment of being crowned Mrs. Galaxy – a
first for Pennsylvania.

October 3, 2008 – For the 8th year in a row I was proud to
sponsor a Senate Resolution recognizing November as Pancreatic
Cancer Awareness Month, as did Rep. Stan Saylor in the House.
Together with the rest of the York County Delegation, we presented
copies of our resolutions to Pancreatic Cancer Network Advocates.

September 24, 2008 - The Senate
Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee amended and reported out
House Bill 2525, amendments to Pennsylvania’s Dog Law.

September 23, 2008 – Mr. Roy Wescher (far right)
made his annual visit to the Capitol with exchange students studying
at high schools in York County and the surrounding area and their

September 15, 2008 – For my monthly show that airs
on community access television, I visited the newly redesigned Tom’s
convenience store in Spring Grove to highlight the topic of
alternative fuels (4 photos)

September 4, 2008 - As a member of the Chesapeake
Bay Commission, I participated in a Biofuels Summit jointly sponsored
by the Commission and Governor Rendell. (3 photos)

August 8, 2008 - Governor Rendell visited York County for a press
conference to announce economic development and bridge improvement
funding being awarded to businesses, organizations, and
municipalities within the County.

June 30, 2008 - Father Bob Nugent from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church
in New Freedom served as the guest chaplain of the Senate providing the opening
prayer on June 30th. |

June 9, 2008 - Together, Senator Lisa Baker and I held a press
conference on June 9th to discuss our fire and EMS legislation.
Chief John Senft from York City and many York County volunteers were

May 6, 2008 - Several senior government class
students and their teacher from Red Lion Christian School ventured
to the Capitol for a hands-on lesson in State Government.

May 1, 2008 - I had the honor of participating in a
Loyalty Day celebration held at the Capitol, at which I presented a
resolution on behalf of the sponsor Senator Lisa Baker and the
entire Senate recognizing May 1, 2008, as Loyalty Day in
Pennsylvania.

May 1, 2008 - The guest speaker at the Loyalty Day ceremony was
Pennsylvania’s Adjutant General Major General Jessica Wright.

May 1, 2008 - The West York Jazz Band provided
music for the Loyalty Day ceremony playing such favorites as “God
Bless the USA” and the respective tunes to honor each branch of the
military.

March 31, 2008 - Ann Getty DeMoise, a York County
resident who was part of the top secret team responsible for
creating the technology that allowed the Enola Gay to fly under
Japanese radar during World War II, was recognized on the Senate
floor where I presented her with a citation for her accomplishment
and dedication to her country.

March 18, 2008 - The Red Lion Choral Choir sang in
the Capitol Rotunda, and I had the opportunity to watch their great
performance. |

March 10, 2008 - Chad Kelly and his family visited
the Senate, where I presented him with a citation and recognized him
on the Senate floor for his successful win for his age group in the
national Pepsi Punt, Pass, and Kick Competition.

February 27, 2008 - During the Appropriations
Hearings on the Governor’s Budget proposal, I had the opportunity to
ask questions of the newly formed Gaming Control Board, as well as
the many other state departments and agencies.

February 26, 2008 - As a member of the Senate
Appropriations Committee I participated in the Budget Hearings held
at the end of February and the beginning of March.

 January 14, 2008 – Three vibrant
ladies from York County who have all won the title of Ms. Pennsylvania
Senior America visited the Capitol and were recognized in the Senate.
Joining me in the photo above were: Ms. Pinky O’Neil from the Ms. Senior
America organization, Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll, Ms. Sarah McHale (Ms.
PA Senior 2004), Ms. Barbara De Leon (Ms. PA Senior 2005), and Ms. Patricia
Kuhn (Ms. PA Senior 2006).

January 11, 2008 - For the second
year in a row I had the privilege of being on the milking team led by
Representative Art Hershey, and just as we did last year, our team took top
honors! |

January 11, 2008 - Once again I participated in the Celebrity Milking Contest at the Farm Show.

- While at the 2008 Farm Show I ran into Senator Mike Brubaker, Chairman of the
Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee.

January 7, 2008 - Along with Secretary of Agriculture Dennis Wolff
and Representative Stan Saylor, I had the pleasure of greeting the
Kennard Dale High School FFA at this year’s Farm Show.

January 7, 2008 - On behalf of the Department, Secretary Wolff
awarded a grant to the Kennard Dale High School FFA during a check
presentation at the Farm Show. |
