FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2008 Pennsylvania Farm Show Kicks Off SaturdayHARRISBURG – Senator Mike Waugh (R-York) reminds residents of York County that the 2008 Pennsylvania Farm Show begins Saturday, January 5th and runs through Saturday, January 12th and admission is FREE. The aptly chosen theme for this year's show, which itself is ever-evolving, as is the industry it celebrates, is "Presenting Pennsylvania Agriculture, New Ideas for New Markets." "With scientific and technological advancements, as well as consumer mindset and demand, the world of agriculture is changing and progressing," said Waugh. "The Farm Show is a great venue for our agricultural producers to share their knowledge with each other and with the public." Despite the many changes that come with each year's Farm Show, the tried and true will remain intact – from milkshakes in the food court to livestock in the barns – and as a member of the Farm Show Commission and Vice-Chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, Waugh will be in the thick of things throughout the week. Attendees to the show should be sure to catch Waugh in the celebrity milking contest on Friday the 11th at 1:30pm in the Equine Arena. "Done the old fashioned way, we use our hands and a bucket," said Waugh. "We may be celebrating New Ideas for New Markets this year at the Farm Show, but we can't forget where we've come from in the farming industry." The 2008 Farm Show will be held in Harrisburg at the Farm Show Complex, located along Cameron and Maclay Streets. Additional information can be found at: www.agriculture.state.pa.us/farmshow.
