The bill is part of a comprehensive "Farmers First Agenda" the senators have introduced to promote and preserve agriculture in Pennsylvania. The news conference will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, at the Hanover Municipal Building, located at 44 Frederick Street in Hanover. At the hearing, they will hear testimony from Agriculture Secretary Dennis Wolff, representatives of agricultural and land preservation organizations and area farmers on a plan to provide tax relief to landowners who preserve their farm property. The senators, who serve as chairman and vice chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, said their "Farmers First Agenda" also includes a number of measures designed to preserve farmland, prevent sprawl, help farmers be more competitive and ensure that agriculture remains Pennsylvania's top industry.
