FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Waugh Introduces Resolution Designating "National Heritage Month" in PennsylvaniaHARRISBURG – State Sen. Mike Waugh (R- York) introduced Senate Resolution 14 today designating February 2005 as "National Heritage Month" in Pennsylvania. The Senate adopted the resolution unanimously. "As the Senator representing York City, our nation's first Capital upon the adoption of the Articles of Confederation, I am honored to sponsor this resolution on behalf of the Sertoma Club of York, which celebrates 'National Heritage Month' as a way to show appreciation for our country's rich heritage," said Waugh. Sertoma International is a charity that partners with its nationwide organization, the Sertoma Foundation, and local clubs to promote service to mankind. Together they provide assistance to over 24 million Americans with speech and hearing disorders. "I am very proud of the work our local Sertoma clubs do to assist those individuals less fortunate than ourselves," stated Waugh. "And it is by virtue of such citizens that our nation is so rich in history." But Waugh's resolution also requests that residents of the Commonwealth not only show appreciation to our nation's heritage, but to our armed forces, past and present, for defending our the nation of which we are so proud.
