Senate Agriculture Committee Meets, Passes Waugh Resolution and Corman Bill

Resolution designates PA Farm Bureau Day; Bill honors Secretary Sam Hayes

HARRISBURG –The Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, chaired by Sen. Mike Waugh (R-York), unanimously passed two pieces of legislation today.

First on the agenda was Waugh’s Senate Resolution 46, which designates April 8, 2003, as Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Day and congratulates the Bureau members for their contribution to the Commonwealth and to the state’s agricultural industry.

The Committee then approved Senate Bill 340, sponsored by Sen. Jake Corman (R-Bellefonte), which honors the immediate past Secretary of Agriculture by naming the new Livestock Meat Animal Evaluation Center at Penn State University as the Samuel E. Hayes, Jr., Livestock Meat Animal Evaluation Center.

SR 46 and SB 340 will now go to the full Senate for consideration.
